Community Involvement
The volunteer run Management Committee acknowledges the importance of Community involvement in the decision-making processes of the Centre. Such involvement helps ensure that the Centre meets the needs of families in the community and fosters communication between these families, the staff and management.
All families of children enrolled at the Centre have an opportunity to be part of the Management Committee and are encouraged to join the Committee. Committee meetings are held on a bi-monthly basis and the AGM is held annually in March/April. The meetings are a great forum for Parents/Carers and Management to work collaboratively towards providing the best possible service that supports and nurtures our children’s education and wellbeing.
All families are also encouraged to be involved in the Centre’s programs, fundraising and special events or projects. Families are welcome to help out with functions, daily activities, excursions, concerts, working bees and general maintenance.
School Involvement
The Learning Centre is located in the grounds of South Coogee Public School. Although we are independent of the School, we have a close relationship and work in collaboration to help ensure the best outcomes for our children. Our Transition to School Programme is enhanced by the School inviting us to participate in their Easter Hat Parade, Book Week, regular Library visits, Orientation and Fiesta Days. Many of the children who attend the Learning Centre go on to attend OOSH upon commencing School. We have a comprehensive orientation programme to assist the children to transition into the OOSH Centre.
